Ada Ewing

Ada May (Baker) Ewing, Native of Bartlesville passed away Wednesday October 29th at Heritage Villa Nursing Home. After a continuous struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Ada was born in Bartlesville on February 22, 1923 to Newton C. Baker and Sallie (Mitchell) Baker. Ada received her formal education in Bartlesville graduating with the Class of 1941. After graduation she was employed by Bell Telephone Co. and worked there until she and E.R. (Gene) (Auldridge) Ewing married in 1947. Mr. Ewing preceded her in death April 13, 1981. In 1952 Ada began her 30 plus years of employment with Phillips Petroleum Company as a PBX Operator, retiring in 1983. After her retirement Ada continued to make her home in Bartlesville. Ada enjoyed traveling, playing cards with her card club and taking care of the Light of her Life, great grandson Devin Gilliland. She was a member of Grace Epworth Methodist Church, Eastern Star Chapter 142 and a life member of the Jane Phillips Sorority. Mrs. Ewing is survived by one daughter Elaine Ewing Dishman and her husband Dale of Dewey, one granddaughter Angela Gilliland and her husband Bradley of Bartlesville, one great grandson Dervin Gilliland of Bartlesville, and one niece Rosalee Stafford of Perkins, OK, one great niece Andrea Stafford of Perkins, OK, one great nephew Terry Stafford of Perkins, OK, one sister-in-law Mildred Baker Wattson of Raytown, MO, three step grand children Kristie and her husband Dr. Scott Carlson of Skiatook, Kyle and wife Tamara Dishman of Yukon, OK, Kindra Dishman of Morris, OK and four step-great-grandchildren, (Marissa, Kelby, Seth and Ryan.) In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials in Mrs. Ewing's name to Eldercare 1223 S.E. Swan Drive Bartlesville, OK. 74006. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday November 3, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplin Jimmy Foreman with the River Cross Hospice will be officiating.
