Albert Petty, longtime Jay resident died Wednesday May 19, 2010 in West Siloam Springs at the age of 86 years. He was born to his parents, John Harvey and Maggie (Newman) Petty on August 1, 1923 in Ashtabula, Ohio. Albert felt a strong sense of patriotism and the Monday after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, he signed up to enter the US Army to serve his country. Albert served in the 82nd Airborne. After the war, Albert worked many different jobs within the agriculture field. He married the love of his life, Tunia Sapp in Ohio and they moved to Oklahoma after their wedding. Albert and Tunia celebrated 54 years of marriage until her death in October 2004. Albert enjoyed collecting guns. He was a simple man that lived his life his way, a true patriot. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; a sister; and his loving wife. Albert leaves many loving memories with sons, William E. Petty and wife Martie of Jay, and John Petty and wife Cindy of Corry, Pennsylvania; daughter, Kathy Poff and husband John of Enid; and several grandchildren. Viewing will be Monday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Round Springs Cemetery in Eucha, Oklahoma with Reverend Tim Lunsford officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team. Interment will be in Round Springs Cemetery next to his loving wife. Services are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay.
