Alvin Bland

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261 - Alvin Eldon Bland, 87 years old, of Grove, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Alvin was born in Everest, Kansas on March 17, 1929 to Alvin and Martha (Shipman) Bland. Alvin married the love of his life, Patsy Davis on December 24, 1948. He worked as a lineman for Kansas Power & Light, retiring in 1984. In 1980, he and Patsy built their lake home, spending weekends at the lake enjoying family and friends. They eventually moved to Grove where they began attending the First United Methodist Church. Alvin was very involved in the community. He shared his free time by volunteering at the Grove Christian Help Center, Meals on Wheels, The Grove Christian Medical Center and was a coordinator for the FUMC mission planning. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, and their daughter, Elizabeth Ann. Alvin is survived by his daughters , Ramona Thiel of Frederick, Maryland, Julie Parsons and husband Steve of Basehor, Kansas, and Tori Wooster of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Alvin is also survived by six grandchildren, Chelsea, Tara, John, Ashley, Lindsay, and Denise, as well as , two great grandchildren, Tori and Lennon. A memorial service will be held at The First United Methodist Church in Grove, Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 3PM with Pastor Randy Hamill and Dr. Richard Dayringer officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Grove Christian Help Center, the Christian Medical Center, or the First United Methodist Church of Grove and may be left at the funeral home or the church.
