Andrew Turner

Andrew W. Turner, 90-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at 4:30a.m., Friday, May 11, 2007 at the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. Andrew W. Turner was born August 19, 1916 in Savannah, Oklahoma to Wm. Turner and Catharine Jo Hoke-Turner. In 1925, the family moved to the Nowata area from Checotah. Mr. Turner attended Nowata schools and graduated with the Class of 1933. He married Agnes Eversole on June 23, 1935 in Independence, Kansas. Mr. Turner would later serve his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Upon his return from the war, Mr. Turner began working in the cattle business. He was part owner in the Coffeyville Stockyards during the late 1940's. He also worked as a butcher in the family processing company for several years. Mr. Turner was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon for 70 years. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and had received his 60 year pin. Mr. Turner was a 45 year member of the Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville where he was an avid golfer. When health prevented him from golfing, he continued trips to the country club to play Gin. Mr. Turner was also a great supporter of the Pioneer Ministries. Mr. Turner is survived by one son, Don and his wife Kathie Turner of Nowata; by one daughter, Ruthie and her husband Wayne Colclasure of Nowata; by seven grandchildren, Michelle and Will Fagan of The Colony, Texas, Angela Turner of Collinsville, Texas, Mark and Jennifer Colclasure of Tulsa, Craig and Linda Colclasure of Rugby, England, Linda Colclasure of Tulsa, and Laura and Carman Rainbolt of Muskogee; by ten great-grandchildren, Josie Turner, Casey Colclasure, Brett Colclasure, Kyleygh Colclasure, Natalie Colclasure, Michael Colclasure, Isla Colclaure, James Rainbolt, David Andrew Turner, and Alexandria Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife Agnes; by his son, Richard Turner; by two infant brothers, Albert and Austin Turner; by another brother, Arhtur Turner; and by a great-grandson, Joshua Dean Turner.
