Barbara Alice Mathia, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on October 6, 2024, in Wolfforth, Texas, at the age of 92. Born on September 18, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Elsie Ray Barton and Dorothy (Fields) Barton.
Throughout her life, Barbara was a source of joy and stability for her family. She held an associate's degree in Home Economics, which she used daily enriching the lives of many with her exceptional cooking and baking skills. Barbara was also a very talented seamstress and created many beautiful quilts.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gene Mathia, her six children: Bobbie Jobe and husband Carl, Karen Crow and husband Morris, Linda Williams and husband Larry, Edward Mathia and wife Kristi, Timothy Mathia and wife Sara, and Mark Mathia and wife Michelle. Barbara's legacy extends to her 15 grandchildren: Jason, Kevin, Alyssa, Joshua, Jennifer, Lance, Eli, Xen, Callie, Addison, Jeremy, Corinne, Anna, and Mary, as well as her 19 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by four siblings: Lemuel Barton, Dorothy Baines, Ray Dean Piguet, and Violet Smith.
A visitation for Barbara will be held on October 11, 2024, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma, from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service starting at 10:00 AM. Barbara will be laid to rest in the Howard Cemetery, located east of Grove.
