Barbara Taylor

Barbara Jean (Jeans) Taylor, 59 - year-old lifetime Vinita resident passed away on Thursday February 19, 2015 at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. She was born in Joplin, MO on April 21, 1955 to De Jean and C. Rex Jeans. She was united in marriage to Leonard J. Taylor Jr. on June 23, 1979 and raised four children. Survivors include her loving husband, Leonard J. Taylor Jr.; children, Jay Taylor and wife Andrea of Vinita, De Jinks and husband Cheyne of Vinita, Mary Jo Knox and husband J. R. of Vinita, and Tim of Vinita. Included are five grandchildren Brooklyn, Katylin, Clayton, Abbie Jo, and Eastyn. Brother Michael Rex Jeans of Vinita and sisters Kriss Arnold Idleman and husband Wayne of Vinita, and Terry Mitchell and husband Cliff of Lansing, Tenn. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother. Barbara grew up on her family ranch operation east of Vinita, J6 Ranch. She went on to become the 1972 Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo Queen, and graduated from Vinita High School in 1973. She went on to graduate from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and from Oklahoma State University, majoring in Early Childhood Development. She taught pre-school at the Methodist Church in Vinita. She then went on to work at Heinz Industry and then at Home of Hope Inc., then finished out her life doing what she loved, spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara was active supporter in a number of community organizations including the Craig County 4-H program, the Vinita FFA Chapter, Rough Riders Horse Club, and Campfire Girls. She was an active member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, serving as Youth minister among other things. The Rosary will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, with Father Alex Kennedy officiating.
