Barbra Joan Cox 82, went to be with the lord on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Joan was born November 30, 1936, in Vera, OK to George Douglass and Pauline (Jackson) Douglass. She grew up in Vera, Ok where she attended school. She married the love of her life Fred Morrison Cox, June 8, 1956 in Vera, OK. In 1963 Fred and Joan moved to Talala, OK and made that their home to start a family. Joan owned Purina Feed Store in Collinsville 1968-1972, Turks Pecans 1970-1977, Coxville Bandits custom sewing in Oologah 1987-1993, P.J.’s Flower Shop 2000-2004 and Mojo Concession 1994-2003. She was a very hard worker with a lot of ambition, there wasn’t anything that she couldn’t or wouldn’t do and a was a woman of many talents. She enjoyed sewing, baking, rodeos, and county fairs. She was a 4-H leader for her children, was a member of the Senior Olympics Basketball team, and Talala Christian Church. Joan loved to spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and family. She had a big heart and loved her lord and savior.
She is survived by her husband Fred Morrison Cox of the home; four children: Randy Cox and wife Debra of Talala, OK, Rusty Cox of Oologah, OK, Rory Cox of Talala, OK, Paula Elam and husband Steve of Nowata, OK; six grandchildren: Josey Murray and husband Charlie of Childers, OK, Larimey Cox and wife Chelsea of Nowata, OK, Kelsey Cox of Owasso, OK, Lindsey Miller and husband Cory of Oklahoma City, OK, Chandee Stacy and husband Trey of Nowata, OK, Macee Coggins and fiancé Corbin Bell of Nowata, OK and twelve great grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is proceeded in death by her parent George Douglass and Pauline (Jackson) Douglass, three brothers, seven sisters and a grandson Christopher Cox.
