Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. Benjamin Alva Hormel, age 81, passed away on January 24, 2016 in Grove, Oklahoma. Ben was born on December 15, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of the late Alva E. and Dema (Nutting) Hormel. After graduating high school, Ben spent twenty years in the United States Army, retiring in 1974 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. Benjamin was an Attorney with a Law practice in McDonald County, Missouri where he served two terms as the Prosecuting Attorney. After his retirement in 1991, Ben moved to Grove, Oklahoma. He had served as the Commander and the Quarter Master and was a lifetime member of the Grove VFW Post 8380. Ben was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Grove, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Karen (Barrett) Hormel, three sisters; Rowena Brock, Kathryn Dalton and Maxine Hagee. He is survived by his daughter Teresa R. Miller of Rogers, AR, three sons; Michael D. Hormel of Lanagan, MO, Mark A. Hormel of Metter, GA, and John A. Hormel of Statesboro, GA. Ben was blessed with four grandchildren; Seth Hormel of Bonne Terre, MO, Aubrey Hormel of Blue Eye, MO, Ethan Hormel and Rylee Hormel, both of Statesboro, Georgia, and two great grandchildren; Ciara Hormel and Carley Hormel. Ben is also survived by three nephews; Gary Brock of Grove, OK, Larry Dalton of Phoenix, AZ and Ronald Hagee. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, January 29, 2016 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
