Berniece Pollett

April 3, 1911 — October 28, 2011

Berniece Faye Pollett, 100, of Collinsville, Oklahoma, passed away October 23, 2011 at the Frances Streitel Senior Care Center in Collinsville. She was born on April 3, 1911 to Alonzo and Mary (Greene) Spradlin in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She attended school in Kingfisher and moved to Stillwater when she was 9 years old. On August 19, 1937, Berniece married Orbie Edgar Pollett in Idaho Falls, Idaho. In 1964 she moved to Nowata. She later moved to Collinsville and was a member of The First Baptist Church of Collinsville. Berniece loved baseball. For her 100th birthday she attended a Tulsa Drillers Baseball game and was interviewed by the Tulsa World. She was asked what team she roots for and she was quick to answer, "The St. Louis Cardinals, and the Texas Rangers". Her granddaughter was able to tell her last week that her two favorite teams were in the World Series. Other hobbies include flower gardening, sewing and embroidery. Above all taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren was her most important achievement. She will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Mrs. Pollett in death are her parents Alonzo and Mary Spradlin, two sons, Glen and Cecil Pollett, a daughter, Lela Smith, siblings, Roy Spradlin, Elmer Spradlin, Grace Baker, Edna White, Ruth Jackson, and Betty McLaughlin. Mrs. Pollett is survived by daughters Gae Hill, of Collinsville, and Barbara Tate, of Buffalo, Missouri, twelve grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, 21 great-great grandchildren, sisters Cleo Wilson, of Garrison Texas, Lola Koch, of Arapaho, Oklahoma, a brother Lee Spradlin, of Willow Springs, Missouri, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Services for Mrs. Pollett will be held 10:00 am, Friday, October 28, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Rev. Tim Prock officiating. Burial will be 2:00 pm, Friday, October 28, 2011, at the Robbins Cemetery, Coffeyville, Kansas. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service, of Nowata, Oklahoma.
