Billy Hartford

Billy "Bill" Raymond Hartford, 82, a resident of Grove passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Integris Grove General Hospital. He was born on November 16, 1927 in Frederick, South Dakota to Lester Elisha and Philladell Rose (Skinner) Hartford. Bill joined the United States Navy during World War II before his honorable discharge. He married his love Joan (Liles) Hartford of fifty-nine years on July 30, 1950 in Englewood, Missouri. Mr. Hartford worked for General Motors at their Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, Kansas as an Inspector. Bill pastored churches on the Indian Reservations in Arizona, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma for eleven years. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Philladell Rose Hartford, a son Daniel Joseph Hartford on September 14, 1974, six brothers, one sister and two step-sisters. Survivors include Mr. Hartford's wife Joan Hartford of the home, a son Donald R. Hartford and his wife Sherrie of Kansas City, Kansas, four daughters Mary Kathryn Hicks of Kansas City, Missouri, Lois Ann Swartzlander and her husband Curtis of Holiday Island, Arkansas, Patricia Marie Sprague and her husband Bruce of Kearney, Missouri, Wanda Jean Smith and her husband Fred of Fort Duchesne, Utah, a sister Mamie Jane, two half sisters Betty May Reid of Kansas City, Kansas, Anna Dell Davidson of Lawrence, Kansas, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Newsong Church with Reverend Fred Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Olympus North Cemetery in Grove. Visitation will be Saturday, December 26, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
