Billy Ray Martin, 86 year old resident of Colcord, Oklahoma, passed away on August 6, 2019.
Billy was born in the Chamberlain Community area in rural Delaware County on May 11, 1933. He was the son of Samuel B. and Inez (Chamberlain) Martin. Billy graduated from Colcord High School in the class of 1953. Billy proudly served in the United States Army from July of 1955 until May of 1957. He continued serving in the Army Reserve until June of 1963. Billy was united in marriage to the love of his life Goldie Sisson on October 19, 1968. He was a member of the Colcord Round Up Club since 1960, and helped build the Colcord arena. Billy was a huge “Hornet” fan, he enjoyed attending all of the Colcord sporting events. He also enjoyed playing his guitar, gospel and old country music, going on trail rides, and traveling. Billy was a member of the Corner Post Church. But most of all, Billy enjoyed spending time with his lovely bride, loving children and adorable grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Ray Dee Martin and grandson Clark Ray Dee Downs and a very special brother Leroy Chamberlin. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Goldie Martin, his children; Patty Ledbetter and Randy of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Eddy Martin and Rhonda of Colcord, Oklahoma, Robin Gault and Matt of Grove, Oklahoma and Tony Martin and Deanna of Stillwell, loving daughter in-law; Claudette (Martin) Butcher, Oklahoma; his siblings; Velma Butler of Twin Falls, Idaho, Melvin Martin of Twin Falls, Idaho, Celeste Cusumano and Doug of Fresno, California and Sharon Thorpe of Twin Falls, Idaho. Billy was blessed with five grandchildren; Andrea Martin, Austin Martin and Jimmi, Jacob Ledbetter, Laramie Gault and Kelsey, Jerri Johnson and great grandsons; Henry David Martin, John Cole Ledbetter and Eric Johnson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 9, 2019 at the Allen Cemetery in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma with Conley Chesney officiating. Online condolences can be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Jay Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
