Bonita (Bun) Florence Reynolds was born February 11th, 1941 in Sperry Oklahoma to Ivra Thomas (Tommy) and Elizabeth Florence Willis. She graduated Sperry High School in 1959. And received a Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Tulsa in 1964.
Bonita was known throughout Sperry as a beautiful and soulful singer. She was often asked to perform for many events throughout the community. She loved getting to know families and share in their joys or support them in difficult times.
Bonita met a handsome young man named George M. Reynolds while roller skating. They were married on August 25th 1962 in Sperry Ok. They moved to Bartlesville in 1963 where they raised cattle and Bonita began teaching at Oglesby Elementary and gave piano lessons out of their home.
Bonita and George had a son, Gregory T. Reynolds in 1967. Bonita enjoyed supporting his activities even when that meant driving a truck and horse trailer to his riding competitions. Greg would have to do all the backing and hook the truck and trailer up for them and though not entirely comfortable with the idea of driving it she “would just figure it out” to ensure they got where they needed to be.
Bonita continued her teaching career with Bartlesville Public Schools where she taught 5th grade at Jane Phillips Elementary and Kane Elementary until she retired in 2000. She cared about her students. Her Moto was “I never keep a student after class, but they can’t go home until their class work is done.”
In addition to her teaching career she was co-owner of The Crayon Shop and later owner of The Angel Niche. She loved everything angels and liked to be known as The Angel Lady.
Bonita and her mother Elizabeth were not only family but best friends. They entertained many in the community by writing and performing various skits. They enjoyed many social clubs and loved being the hostesses of parties. Bonita was passionate about planning each event and loved collecting dishes so that she would have the perfect table for any occasion.
Bonita’s pride and joy are her son Greg and two grandchildren Dalton and Macy Reynolds.
Bonita was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary Willis. Left to share her memories are her husband George Reynolds. son Greg and wife Janette Reynolds, grand children Dalton Reynolds, Macy Reynolds and Tyler Davis, as well as many other relatives and friends.
