Funeral services for Calvin Donald Harris are 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 5, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Nowata with Pastor Jeffrey Rickman officiating. Interment will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Jester Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma with Ken Hamilton officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Calvin Donald Harris, 93, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Golden Oaks Retirement Village in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was born April 5, 1924 in Jester, Oklahoma to Buford and Dona (Hill) Harris. Calvin attended Plainview Schools and entered the United States Navy serving his country during WWII. He was later called back to active duty to serve during the Korean War. Calvin married the love of his life Wenonah McDonald on June 2,1944. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nowata, and The Masonic Sunset Lodge 77 in Nowata. Calvin was an air traffic controller for years. He also enjoyed farming and taking care of cattle and the livestock. He enjoyed fishing and reading especially about Naval History. Most of all he loved his family. He held a special place in his heart for his wife of 73 years, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family. He will be missed by all who knew him. Calvin is survived by his wife, Wenonah, of the home; a daughter, Sheila Forbes and her husband Dan of Stillwater; a sibling, Elbie Heard of Amarillo, Texas; two grandchildren, Amanda Stewart and Bradley Carpenter; two great-grandchildren, Aurora Stewart and Dyre Stewart. He is preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Dona; a daughter, Vicki Carpenter and several brothers and sisters. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
