Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma, 918-253-3222. Carl Gene Leach, Sr., 72 years old, Cherokee elder, Spavinaw resident, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018. Carl was born in Claremore on February 9, 1946 to Levi and Beatrice (Lawhead) Leach. He bravely served in the United States Army during Vietnam War as a Crew Chief and Door Gunner on the UH - Huey helicopter. On October 4, 1969, he was united in marriage to Leonor (Bustos) Leach and together raised 3 children. Carl enjoyed fishing, swimming, traveling, being outdoors and most of all spending time with family. He was an active member of the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship.
Survivors include his daughter Doborah Leach and husband Raul Rodriguez, Sr., son Frank Leach and wife Elena Riccio Leach, daughter-in-law Maria Galvan Leach, partner Donna Lane, siblings Charles Leach , Sue Foreman, Marshal Leach, Barbara Parrish, John Leach, and Sharon Wise and grandchildren: Sarah Rodriguez, Melissa Rodriguez, Raul Rodriguez, Jr., Dominick Leach, and Donovan Leach. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, wife Leonor Leach, son Carl Gene Leach, Jr. and brothers Neal and Jimmie.
Public viewing will be from 8 a.m to 6 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018 and from 8 a.m to 1 p.m., Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Worley Luginbuel - Jay Chapel with funeral services starting Friday at 1 p.m., with Pastor Loy "Tobe" Sperry officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m., Saturday October 6, 2018 at Ross-Mayes Cemetery in Salina. A luncheon will follow at the Spavinaw Hills House of Worship, 5690 North Rd, Spavinaw, OK. Services are under the direction of Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home of Jay.
