Charles Goode

Charles Guinn Goode, 73, of Grove, Oklahoma died at 3:08 p.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Joplin HealthCare Center in Joplin, Missouri. Charles was born April 17, 1935 in Turtletown, Tennessee to James Cecil and Blanche Gertrude (Hensley) Goode. On April 17, 1952, he joined the United States Marine Corp where he served until December 16, 1954. He greatly enjoyed his career as a boilermaker. He last worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron as an inspector for their tank productions. In 1954, he married Doris Gilligin in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She and her children, Charles Goode, Jr., Debbie Stevenson, Connie Warren, Terrie Oliver, Stephen Goode, and Mark Goode survive. Doris and Charles were later divorced. In 1964, he married Mary Anderson in Knoxville, Tennessee. She and her children, Monica Gotschall and Jon Goode survive. Mary and Charles were later divorced. In 1977, he married Shine Carson in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. She and her son, Scott Goode and his wife Kathrin of Tulsa, Oklahoma survive. Shine and Charles were later divorced. Charles is also survived by his wife, Ruth LaRoche, whom he married in 1985 in Vinita, Oklahoma and her children, Mike Moody and his wife Lindsey and Janet Tanner and her husband Roger all of Grove, Oklahoma. Additional survivors include his grandchildren; four brothers, Benny Goode, Butch Goode, Brownie Goode, and George Goode; and two sisters, Linda Richardson and Elaine Thorton. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma with Pastor Jim Wakeland officiating. Burial will follow in Olympus Cemetery, Grove, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Mike Moody, Scott Goode, Tony Richard, Carl Scribner, Floyd Johnson, and Tony Patton. The family suggests memorials to the Charles Goode Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove is in charge of arrangements.
