Charles Medlock

Charles Lee Medlock died Saturday, November 4, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born May 28, 1926 in Atchison, Kansas to Charles Edward and Ina (Gordon) Medlock. He graduated from Atchison High School where he was active in all sports. During WWII, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the V-12, on the USS Fall River and the USS AM Recruit. After honorable discharge in 1946 he continued his education at the University of Kansas and received degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Pharmacy. He was a letterman on the Jayhawk baseball team and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Charlie married Mary Beth McNalley on June 17, 1950. He was a pharmacist in Bartlesville for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was active in St. John Catholic Church, acting as Eucharist Minister for 25 years and was a past member of the St. John School Board. He was the first president of the St. John Home and School Association. He was preceded in death by: his parents: father, Charles Edward Medlock; mother, Ina (Gordon) Medlock and step-mother, Virginia Medlock. He is survived by: his wife, Mary Beth Medlock of the home; four children: son, James Joseph Medlock and wife Patricia; daughter, Mary Janet Maxwell and husband Ron; son, Michael Charles Medlock and wife Ellen and son, Patrick William Medlock and wife Tina; eight grandchildren: Jeff Maxwell, Sarah Kennedy, Charles Maxwell, Theresa McKinzie, Scott Medlock, Anne Medlock, Stephen Medlock and Katherine Medlock; five great grandchildren: two brothers: Gordon and Paul Medlock; along with other relatives and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John Catholic School or the Richard Kane Y.M.C.A.
