Funeral services for Clara Louise Smith are 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 20, 2014 at Emmanuel Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma with Pastors Donna McClure and Chaplain Mike Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Clara Louise Smith, 82, of South Coffeyville, OK died at her rural home Tuesday, June 17, 2014. She was born in South Coffeyville, OK on November 23, 1931 to William Lee and Silver Matilda-Mae Knight. She lived all but three years of her life in Nowata County. Her family lived in South Gate, California for three years where she attended South Gate Junior High. March 3, 1950, Clara married the love of her life, James Lester Smith, more affectionately known as "Sugar Babe." To this match made in heaven were born four sons, James Lewis Smith, Terry Lee Smith, Troy Peyton Smith all of south Coffeyville and Michael "Mike" Ray Smith of Copan, Oklahoma. They had two daughters, Phyllis Jean Smith and Ethel Louise Smith who died in infancy. Survivors include her four sons, two daughters-in law, eleven grandkids, eleven great grandkids, and one great, great granddaughter "Nurse" Maddyson Jessie Allen, three brothers-in law, four sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and all her friends and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lester Smith, their two daughters, her parents, three brothers, and three sisters. Clara will be missed by all who knew her.
