Cora Lucille Griggs, 96-year-old Nowata resident passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey, Oklahoma. She was born January 18, 1923 in Stillwell, Oklahoma to James E. Pruett and Myrtle A. (Deason) Pruett. Lucille attended school in the Stillwell area and was married to James E. Griggs Sr.. She was a member of the Watova Full Gospel Christian Center. Lucille loved listening to Christian music and reading her bible. She enjoyed sewing, and fishing with her husband. Lucille liked gardening and canning the fruits of her labor. She was an avid homemaker and loved caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and other family members. She had a special place in her heart for all her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding Mrs. Griggs in death are her parents James and Myrtle Pruett, her husband James Edward Griggs Sr., stepson; Carl Griggs, three grandchildren, Tony Standeford, Brian Deason , Elaine Griggs Hope and a sister Alma Crawford.

She is survived by four children, Opal Huffman of Nowata, Shirley Deason and husband J.D. of Bartlesville, James Edwards “Jim” Griggs Jr. and wife Debbie of Neosho, MO, Paul David Griggs, and wife Lynn of Talala, eight grandchildren: Amy Griggs, Tomi Jo Belden, Darci Stout, Dedra Carpenter, Sharon Park, James Griggs III, Carl Griggs Jr., Donnie Griggs; twenty six great grandchildren and twelve great great-grandchildren.
