Don Henson

Don "Donna" Virginia Henson, 82 year old Spavinaw resident, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 17, 2014. Donna was born on the Will Rogers Ranch in Oologah , OK on November 28, 1931. She was united in marriage on the side of the road in Tulsa County to Arthur Wayne Henson on July 4,1951. Together they raised three sons in Spavinaw, OK. Donna was employed for 19 years as the secretary of Spavinaw schools. Prior to that, she was the secretary for the Spavinaw Lumberyard. In the 1970s, she and Wayne operated their family dairy for many years. Her hobbies included going to yard sales, thrift shops, and gardening. She was an active member of the Disney Assembly of God Church, a member of the Spavinaw Community Center and volunteered taking tickets at the Picture in Scripture Amphitheater. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Adair. Donna was a very dedicated and loyal Oklahoma City Thunder fan. Survivors include her sons: Rickey Henson and wife Karen of Spavinaw, Randy Henson and wife Linda of Eucha, and Rusty Henson and companion Rhonda Schaller, also of Spavinaw; grandchildren: Eric Henson, Cody Henson, Michael Henson, Brian Henson, Melissa Mooney, Thomas Henson, and Katlin Schaller; great grandchildren: Addison Henson, Skyler Owens, Gavin Henson, Allison Mooney, Cleo Mooney, and Kelby Henson; siblings: Junior Richmond and wife Jean of Hulbert, OK, Billie Cooper of Tahlequah, OK, and Leon Richmond of Wagoner, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents: Doug and Maggie Richmond, her loving husband Arthur Wayne Henson, great granddaughter Emma Rose Henson, and 8 siblings: Bill Hart, Harold Richmond, Fontreba Teague, Chester Richmond, Bobby Richmond, Lucille Orcutt, Marie "Pig" Waldrup, and Pauline Chaudoin. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Disney Assembly of God Church with a family dinner at noon. Interment will follow at the Spavinaw-Strang Cemetery.
