Donald Wayne Hawthorne, age 81, passed away on August 30, 2022, at Integris Grove Hospital.
Donald was born on August 28, 1941, in Jenny Lind, Arkansas. He was the son of Richard and Grace (Myers) Hawthorne. Donald proudly served in the United States Army. He worked as an equipment operator in communications construction. He could operate any and everything except a road grader. And if the equipment had hydraulics, it was a good day and made him happy. Donald enjoyed spending time on the water, camping and fishing. He was nicknamed the “Catfish King” of Dequeen, Arkansas, he was also good at catching crappie.
Donald was united in marriage to Joyce M. Preacher in August of 1989, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by three children: Tina Hopkins, Cindy Finke and Peggy Merk, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children: Debbie Standage and Michael Brower, five siblings: Bill Hawthorne, Roy Hawthorne, Margie Boyster, Richard Hawthorne, and Doris Clifton.
Donald will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Granby, Missouri.
