Dorothy Lou Scott, 74, and a long-time resident of Nowata, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at her home.
Dorothy Lou Thompson, was born March 1, 1945 at Nowata, Oklahoma to Robert C. “Bob” Thompson and Lavilla Mae (Melton) Thompson. Dorothy grew up in Nowata and received her education, there. She studied at Tri-County Tech in Bartlesville, where she received her LPN training. Except for a short time in Collinsville, Oklahoma and New Mexico, Dorothy spent her entire life in the Nowata area. She worked for Nowata General Hospital, Dr. John Holcomb, The Hays House and was administrator of Nowata Nursing Center. Dorothy met the love of her life, Howard L. Scott, and the couple were married on March 24, 1996, and continued to make their home in Nowata.
Along with Howard, Dorothy loved Living Word Church, her kids and her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time in her swimming pool, smoking cheese & bologna, canning salsa and making cinnamon candy. Dorothy liked gardening, shooting her guns, collecting knives and painting, like Bob Ross.
She is survived by her husband, Howard of the home; six children, Robert Rush Remington and wife, Heather of Fenton, Missouri, Sean Remington and wife, Jill of St. Charles, Missouri, J.J. Remington and husband, Brad of Nowata, Cindy LaRussa and husband, Tony of Arlington, Texas, Steve Scott and wife, Brenda of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Tony Scott and wife, Robbie of Nowata; three brothers, Johnnie Thompson of Nowata, Billy Thompson and wife, Helen of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jim Thompson of Langley, Oklahoma; one sister, Faye Norris of Afton, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and her beloved dogs. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Bob & Mae Thompson; one daughter, Melissa Lynn Remington; a son, Mark Scott and by a sister, Sarah Moreland.
A memorial service will be held, 10 a.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Living Word Church, Nowata with the Pastors Ben Killion and Jim Price officiating.
