Edgar Eugene “Gene” Butler passed from this life too soon, he went to his Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2022. He was born on May 09, 1945, to John Elijah Butler, and Clara May Fields in Southwest City Missouri. Gene graduated from Grove High School and attended a 1-year welding program. He went on to work in construction for most of his life, specializing in working with heavy machinery. He met and fell in love with Sally Manes they married on January 6, 1992. Gene was a hard worker and always gave everything he had to his job. The family said his office was down at the VFW where he would discuss many things with his friends. Gene had a big heart for his community, but most especially for his grandchildren, he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Gene is survived by his wife Sally Butler, his daughter Terri Butler-McDowell son Michael Butler, daughter Lisa Mantia Crawford, son John Mantia, and son Chris Mantia, brothers: John Butler and Bill Butler, his cousin Gary Butler, whom he was very close to, as well as many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents John Elijah and Clara May Butler, cousins Carol Ann and Larry Butler as well as many others.
Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Butler Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Butler Cemetery
