Edith Smernoff Obituary Grove, OK - Edith Bertha Smernoff, 79, died Thursday, February 15, 2006 at St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Edith was born July 20, 1927 at Wichita, Kansas to Fred and Rose (Freund) Gegen. She lived in Grove for one year, moving to Grove from Harper, Kansas. She enjoyed participating in craft shows. She also enjoyed spending time at the casinos, especially playing the slot machines. Survivors include her three children, Vernie and wife Bonnie Smernoff of Elk, Washington; Larry and wife Sally Smernoff of Anaheim, California; and Sherre Vullo of Grove, Oklahoma; two sisters, Sister Loretta Gegen of Wichita, Kansas, Phyllis Salters of Grove, Oklahoma, one brother Don Gegen and wife Geri of Spokane, Washington, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, also ten nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 P.M. Tuesday evening, February 20, 2007 at the Worley Luginbuel Chapel in Grove. The memorial service for Edith Smernoff will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Worley-Luginbuel Chapel in Grove, with Pastor David DeVore officiating.
