Elizabeth Jane "Janie" Duggins, 76, a long-time Nowata resident, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. Elizabeth Jane Duggins was born August 12, 1935 in Nowata, OK the daughter of Arnold Bernard and Miranda Emaline (Foster) Smith. It was in Nowata, OK that Jane received her early childhood education, began her career as a florist and established her home. Jane was united in marriage to Carroll Eldon Duggins on May 18, 1979 at Nowata and the couple continued to make Nowata their home until Mr. Duggins death in April of 2001. Since that time, Jane has remained in Nowata enjoying her family and church activities at First Baptist Church of Nowata. Jane's passion was serving the Lord. She was a very giving and selfless person who was concerned about others and was always eager to lend a helping hand. Jane was preceded in death by: her husband, C.E. Duggins; her parents and a brother, Lloyd Smith. She is survived by aunts and uncles: J.R. Smith and his wife Phyllis of South Coffeyville, OK; W.R. "Bill" Smith and his wife Kathleen of Delaware, OK and Phyllis Pryor and her husband George of Delaware, OK; along with numerous cousins, other relatives and dear friends. To honor Jane, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Graveside Services for Jane will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata with Jeff McDermott officiating. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service.
