Franklin Polson

June 5, 1920 — September 25, 2009

Franklin E. Polson, 89 year old well-known Vinita resident, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Craig General Hospital. He was born on June 5, 1920 in Vinita to O. E. and Chelsea (Vinyard) Polson. Frank attended Oklahoma State University, until he left for the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was married to Betty Imogene (Smith) Polson on November 14, 1942 in Vinita. Frank worked at Ford Garage and taught at Auto Body at Columbus, Kansas, before opening the Polson Glass and Body Shop in Vinita, which he operated until 2000. Frank was a member of the First Christian Church of Vinita and was currently attending the First Church of God in Vinita. He had served as an Elder for many years at the First Christian Church. Frank loved his work, visiting and traveling with the Green Country Campers Group. Preceding him in death were, his wife, Betty Imogene Polson in 2002, his parents, brothers, Gerald, Bob, and Evan. The family includes: his daughter, Marilyn Woods and husband Warner of Midlothian, Texas, special friend, Norma Blount of Vinita, brother, William "Bill" Polson of Vinita; grandsons, Jason Roberts and wife Tricia of League City, Texas, Kyle and John Warner Woods of Henryetta, great-grandchildren, Luke and Olivia Roberts, Anastasia and Alexia Woods; sisters in-law, Nellie Polson of Vinita, Faye Ann Polson of Tulsa, and Joann Smith of Miami, also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives survive. The funeral will be held Monday, September 28, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of God in Vinita, with Pastor Eddie Wrinkle officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
