Gary Norton Earp, 67 year old lifetime Jay area resident passed away Thursday, September 01, 2011, following an extended illness. Gary was born in Jay, Oklahoma on October 25, 1943 to James and Bonnie (Jones) Earp. Gary graduated from Jay High School in 1961. He served in the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1969. He worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator, and also as a horse trainer. Gary was also the longtime care taker of Mt. Hermon Cemetery Gary married Kathy Pritchett on August 28, 1967, in Miami, Oklahoma. Gary enjoyed horse racing and deer hunting but above all enjoyed spending time with family the most, especially the grandkids and nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by his wife Kathy, of the home, son Johnnie Earp and wife Lisa of Jay, Oklahoma, brother Jim Earp, and wife Betty, of Jay, Oklahoma, a nephew that he thought of as a brother, Ray Earp, sister, Linda Cox and husband Cecil, of Newcastle, Oklahoma, and grandchildren, Jordan Earp and Jacob Earp Gary is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, Kimbery Frost, Chris Cox, Jamie Earp, Jud Earp, Jason Cox, Kesha Cox, and Janna Jay Haynes, as well as seven great nieces and nephews, Parker Warner, Austin Frost, Jenny Earp, Cassadi Cox, Alyssa Cox, Mattie Haynes and Tucker Earp. Funeral services for Gary will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 the Mt. Hermon Church in Jay, Oklahoma. A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, Oklahoma.
