Gary Vanpielt

Gary Lee VanPielt, Bernice resident, died accidentally early Sunday morning December 27, 2009 at the age of 55. Gary was born on May 28, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Kansas to his parents Clyde and June (McCorkle) VanPielt. He grew up in the Pittsburgh area where he graduated from high school and Pitt State University. Gary worked as a self-employed construction contractor. He married Tammy Hix on July 31, 2000 in Miami, Oklahoma. Gary loved to fish, wrote articles on techniques for fishing magazines, and was a guest on Jimmy Houston fishing shows. Gary is survived by his family, wife, Tammy, of the home; sons, Gavin VanPielt, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Austin VanPielt of Wichita, Kansas; daughters, Holly VanPielt, of Grove, Mandy Collingsworth and husband Zach, of Weir, Kansas, Chelsea VanPielt (Jones)and Nick, of Afton, Shelbie VanPielt, of Bernice; grandchildren, Chris Wallace, Brooklyn Collingsworth, Hayden Jones, Cooper Jones.
