Gladys Lorraine (Flock) Carroll, 95 year-old longtime Pensacola resident, passed away September 1, 2008 at the Quality Living Home in Bluejacket. She was born August 16, 1913 in Pensacola to Bert and Dollie (Clemens) Flock. Gladys was married to Tom Carroll on August 1, 1934; He preceded her in death on March 30, 1995. Tom and Gladys raised four sons while farming, ranching, and running the sale barns in Grove and Vinita. Gladys thrived on taking care of her home-taking, taking care of the lawn, growing beautiful flowers, gardening and canning. She adored her family and especially enjoyed cooking for them. She loved to quilt and was particularly proud of the quilts, she hand pieced and quilted for each of her sons and their wives, for each of her grandchildren, and even some of her great-grandchildren, before she became unable to quilt. Tom and Gladys attended, served, and loved the Otterbein United Methodist Church. Gladys looked forward to Tuesday afternoon quilting with the ladies at Otterbein and was able to attend and quilt with them until just a few years ago. But most important, Gladys loved the Lord and knew Jesus Christ and is rejoicing in Heaven today. Those that preceded her in death include, her husband Tom, a son David Eugene Carroll, on December 4, 1952, three brothers and three sisters.
