Grace Thomas

Grace Ellen Farrow was born on October 1, 1927 in Cushing, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Henry S. Farrow and Martha E. (Languell) Farrow. She received her elementary and high school education in the Cushing schools. She graduated with the Cushing High School graduating class of 1946. She furthered her education by attending Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1950. Grace worked in St. Louis and Kansas City before moving to Bartlesville in 1952. She then worked in Peoria, Illinois from 1953 to 1955 before moving back to Bartlesville. In Bartlesville, she worked as an RN at Jane Phillips Hospital from 1955 to 1976 where she held the position of Surgical Nurse and was the Assistant OR Supervisor, until her retirement. Grace and Harold Thomas were united in marriage on October 17, 1953 in Bartlesville. They were owner/operators of Thomas Jewelry in Bartlesville. Harold preceded Grace in death on January 13, 2009 and she had continued her residence in Bartlesville since that time. Grace was a charter member of the East Bartlesville Christian Church where she served as a past president of the Ladies Christian Fellowship, as well as a member of the Church Choir. In her earlier years, Grace was very active in her community. Some of her other memberships included past president Oklahoma State Nursing Association District 9; the Christian Women's Club of Bartlesville; Green Blades Garden Club; Bartlesville Community Singers; the So & Sew Sewing Club; and the Bartlesville Business Women's Association. Survivors include her son, Dana E. Thomas and his wife, Hae Suk "Sukhee", of Bartlesville; daughter, Gina Thomas Patteson and her husband, Allan, also of Bartlesville; grandchildren, April Thomas of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Dustin Thomas, also of Fayetteville; Kevin Patteson and his wife, Amanda, of Wichita, Kansas; and Nathan Patteson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Mariah Thomas of Fayetteville; Jordan Thomas of Fayetteville; Harper Patteson of Wichita, Asher Patteson also of Wichita; and a special sister-in-law, Fern Weber of Amarillo, Texas. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Thomas; parents, Henry and Martha Farrow; brothers, Aven Farrow and Ova Farrow; and sisters, Irene Keeler and Christine Pritchett. Memorials in Grace's memory may be made to Mid-India Christian Mission, c/o East Bartlesville Christian Church, 3221 E. Tuxedo Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006. Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Family will be present to greet friends from 6-8:00 PM on Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4, in the East Bartlesville Christian Church. Rev. David Mabon will officiate, with Rev. Chris Morton assisting. Interment will follow the service in Memorial Park Cemetery beside her husband, Harold.
