Howard Chrisco

Howard Leroy Chrisco, 90 year old longtime Vinita resident, died Tuesday evening, October 22, 2013 at the Medical Lodges in Dewey. He was born on April 5, 1923 in Vinita to Otis Leroy and Gladys Opal (Arms) Chrisco. Howard was a graduate of Bluejacket High School and was a Veteran of the U. S. Army. In the Army He was a Staff Sergeant, involved in the battles of New Guinea, Northern Solomons, Southern Phillipines and Luzon during World War II. Howard was awarded the Purple Heart when he was wounded in action. Howard married Juanita Lydia Corbett on February 6, 1943 in Vinita, she preceded him in death on November 21, 1998. Howard owned and operated a dairy for many years, later he became very involved raising Beefmaster Cattle on his farm. He also had an oil drilling and leasing business for a few years. Howard enjoyed playing music, he played the fiddle, guitar and bass; he once played as one of the undercard bands at a Bob Wills Show. He was coon hunter, running his Treeing Walker Hounds for over 20 years. Howard was a member of the Beefmaster Breeders United cattleman's association. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife. The family includes: his daughter, Sharon K. Weaver of Arlington, Texas, three sons, Larry L. Chrisco and wife Linda J. of Fairland, Roger D. Chrisco and wife Linda A. of Guthrie, Randy G. Chrisco and wife Nancy of Bartlesville; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita, with Pastor George Vaughn officiating.
