Ida Ann Smith, age 81, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, at the Grandwood Assisted Living Center. She was born on July 28, 1943, in Houston, Mississippi, to her parents James Longest and Mary 'Cochran' Longest.
Throughout her life, Ann created countless memories with her husband Marvin filled with RV travels across the USA, with involvement in the Family Motor Coach Association and Campers on Mission. Her passion for exploring new places and experiencing world travels and different cultures brought immense joy to her heart.
Ann's dedication to education led her to graduate from Blue Mountain College and become a lifelong supporter of the Blue Mountain Modenian Society. Ann was a beloved high school teacher, committed to shaping young minds, and leaving an impact on all those she taught.
In addition to her successful career and love for travel, Ann enjoyed hobbies like sewing and painting. Her creative spirit shone through in everything she touched.
Ann will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 58 years Marvin Smith. She is also survived by her three daughters, Amanda Isaac (Warren), Volare Yantis (Ryan), Rachel Watters (Jeremy), nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and her brother James Terry Longest.
Services to honor and remember Ann's life will be held at the following locations:
- Visitation: August 13, 2024, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, with family present from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
- Memorial Service: August 14, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM at Grove's First Baptist Church.
