Inez Martin

Inez Luejean Martin 72 year old Vinita Resident died Saturday July 10, 2010 at Craig General Hospital in Vinita. She was born January 15, 1938 in Strang, OK the daughter of Samuel Parks and Janie Rattlingourd Parks. Inez was raised and educated in Strang where she graduated high school. She attended nursing school in Madison Wisconsin and later attended Rogers State College. Upon leaving Wisconsin the family traveled extensively and lived in various cities before returning to Oklahoma. She and William Martin were married December 17, 1971 in Joplin, MO. He preceded her in death in 1994. The family returned to Vinita in 1963 and Inez spent the next forty seven years at Eastern State Hospital; currently the Forensic Center, while also working at Rosewood Terrace for twenty one years. She enjoyed needlework, quilting, crocheting as well as her family and gardening and traveling. Her biggest passion was helping others. Inez leaves behind her children: Bernice Rogers of Clarksville, TN, Sherry Martin of Tulsa, OK, William Martin Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Barbara Martin of Tulsa, OK, Curtis & Rhonda Martin of Midwest City, OK, Clifford Martin of Tulsa, OK, Castella and Robert Clayton of Tulsa, OK, Petricia and Ronnie Davis of Garland, TX, Phillip Martin of Atoka, OK, April and Melvin Jones of Shreveport, LA, Trenda and Clifford Braggs of Carrollton, TX, Beverly & Paul Fleming of Dallas, TX, Terry Martin of Vinita, OK, Willie and Randy Cornwell of Oklahoma City, OK, Joyce Lechlider of Vinita, OK, Eureka Martin of Vinita, OK and Marquietta Martin of San Antonio, TX, her brothers, Sam Parks Jr. of Vinita, Josh & Virginia Parks of Nowata, OK, Steve & Pat Parks of Tulsa, OK, and a sister Rose Parks of Lebanon, PA and a host of grand children, great grand children and nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Mary Lynch, Kora Parks, Lorene Rowe, Billie Parks, Patsy Parks and one brother Henry Parks, children and grandchildren: Vivian Hurd, Kenny Martin, Cheryl Martin, Thomas Martin, Pam Martin, Sabrina Petty, Maricela Mendoza, Funeral services will be Saturday July 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Jones and Rev. Robert Ramsey Jr. officiating with interment to follow in Ketchum Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 at Luginbuel Funeral Home.
