James Robert Bales, age 73, passed away on July 17, 2024, at his residence in Grove, Oklahoma. Born on November 2, 1950, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, James led a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and moments.
James was a proud Navy veteran who served his country honor. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for hospitality and became the owner and operator of King Point Resort in Grove, Oklahoma. His dedication to providing exceptional experiences for all who visited the resort was truly commendable.
Outside of work, James had a wide array of interests and hobbies that brought him immense joy. From shooting pool to dancing and enjoying "Thirsty Thursday's" with his friends on his boat, James always knew how to have a good time. He was known for his love of fishing and never turning down an opportunity to meet new people – he truly never met a stranger.
James will be dearly missed by his surviving family members including Lenda Bales, his devoted wife; children: Brian Bales and wife Shelley of Sulphur Springs, Texas; Lori Roman and husband Ted of Saratoga Springs, Wyoming; Jennifer Hall and husband Christopher Milot of Joplin, Missouri; brothers: Stanley Bales of Texas; Phillip Bales and his wife of Iola, Oklahoma; Dan Bales and his wife of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Shelby and spouse; Brittany and spouse; Alyssa Jensen and spouse; Miranda Combs and spouse; Alexeous Hall; Josh Hall; as well as one great-grandchild named Melody Sue Combs and survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and one uncle, Earl Vaughn and his wife Susie. James was preceded in death by his parents John Robert Bales and Juanita (Vaughn) Bales, and his sister Cheryl Bales.
James Robert Bales will be remembered as a kind-hearted man with a zest for life and an unwavering love for his family. His legacy of warmth and hospitality will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
