In Celebration of James Louis Osborne. James was born on June 17, 1927, in Knowles, OK. He departed for heaven on June 8, 2024, in Joplin, MO. As a young teenager, James enjoyed playing trombone in what was considered at the time taboo, a swing music band. Earlier in life James collected an array of rare arrow heads he found in the Dust Bowl days. As a young man, James served in the U.S. Navy in World War II while stationed in the Philippines. He was discharged in 1946. Post War he was employed by Haliburton Oil Company. He met his wife, Patricia Johnson and married in 1953. A few years later, James and Patricia along with two children moved to Tripoli, Libya as he was employed as a purchasing agent in the oil industry. James remarried in 1987 to Madeline Carlson after the passing of his wife Patricia in 1981. James was a huge Oklahoma Sooner fan. He was an avidly obsessed genius gardener who was co-creator of Lendonwood Gardens and creator/designer of Church on the Hill Member Memorial Garden in Grove, OK.
Survivors include 5 children, three sons of Tulsa, OK: Samuel Jacob, Johnson Dallas and Kelly Jay Osborne. Two daughters; Cathy Heckman of Stockton, KS and Mary Bealmer of Dallas, TX. Nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia, second wife, Madeline, his eldest son James Jr.,, eldest daughter Jan Marie Sparks, his brother Sam, granddaughter Danielle Gore, and great granddaughter Zavery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4-6 PM, Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 PM, Friday, June 14, 2024, in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
