James Rutherford

James Daniel "Spudd" Rutherford, 20 year-old Langley resident, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 in an automobile accident near Miami. He was born May 14, 1988 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to Joel and Kelly (de Sousa) Rutherford. James was a 2006 graduate of Pryor High School, where he was a standout athlete in soccer, track and football and was a tuba player in the band. James was employed by Arrowhead Yacht Club and was currently attending college at Rogers State University in Claremore. He had also attended Northeastern State in Tahlequah where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity. James was a member of the First Christian Church of Langley. The family includes: his parents, Joel and Margaret Rutherford of Langley, Kelly Riggle and husband Ed of Georgetown, Indiana; brothers and sisters, Megan Spine and husband Terry of Georgetown, Indiana, Chris Riggle of New Albany, Indiana, Lindsey Sisson and husband Collin of Louisville, Kentucky, Michael Riggle of Twenty-one Palms, California, Emily McMurtrey and husband Ryan of Muskogee, Kaitlin Riggle and Kellye Jo Riggle both of Georgetown, Indiana and Grace Anne Rutherford of Langley. Grandparents, Jim and Eva Jo Rutherford of Langley, Ralph Riggle, Sr. of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Frank Mendoza of Tulsa, Ken Clay of Bryceville, Florida, Joe and Diane deSousa of Brentwood, New Hampshire, Ken and Nancy Funk of Joplin, Missouri; Nieces Ryily McMurtrey, Molly Spine and Isabel Sisson, and nephew Luke Spine. There are numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins also surviving. Preceding him in death were his grandmothers, Jean Mendoza and Betty Clay. The funeral service will be held Tuesday March 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pryor High School Auditorium. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel South Grand Lake Funeral Home of Langley.
