James “Stretch” Zeckser, passed away December 9, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 70 years old.
Stretch was born in Topeka, Kansas, to Ellen and Roger Zeckser. He attended high school in Topeka, then he fulfilled his obligation to his country and the U.S. Army where he was a helicopter mechanic. After the Army, he lived in the Topeka and surrounding area. Stretch had many talents including over the road truck driving, rock carving and he also worked for a fishing equipment manufacturer. In 1976, Stretch met the love of his life, Suze and were married at Lake Shawnee in Topeka.
After moving to Grove, Oklahoma, Stretch and Suze settled into a comfortable life living on Grand Lake. They spent most of their time fishing and exploring the lake area together. Stretch was a dedicated member of the Honky Tonks and Social Clubs. He was a generous and witty individual. Stretch was loved by all, and he was an all-around great guy!
James “Stretch” Zeckser was preceded in death by his parent, Ellen and Roger Zeckser, brothers Vic and Dale Zeckser.
He is survived by his wife, Suze of the home. He is also survived by his brother Ron (Cindy) Zeckser of Overbrook, Kansas, his sister Carol (Bill) Murdock of Kansas, his children, Wade (Chenoa) Zeckser of Topeka, KS, Victoria (Greg) Copenhaver of El Dorado Springs, MO, and Aaron (Jenny) Legan of La Mesa, CA, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
Benefit Pie & Cake Auction / Celebration of Life service will be held starting at 2 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2022, at R-Bar Dance Hall and Saloon located at 558 W. 3rd Street in Grove, Oklahoma.
