Jimmie (Jimmy) Carl Cate passed from this life at his home on Sunday morning October 11, 2021. Jimmy was was born on December 21, 1942 to Roger and Lena Cate.
Jim graduated from Jay H.S. in 1961. He later attended NSU in Tahlequah. After his education, he enlisted in the United States Army. Jimmy was a Combat Veteran for his service during the Vietnam war, and was also presented with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his brave service to his country. He married his lifelong partner, Melba Cate, on December 30, 1973, in Jay. He worked many years with his dad surveying most of Delaware County. He also worked 6 yrs with the Jay EMS Dept. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting guns with friends. Jimmy also loved watching the OU Sooners football games.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Lena Cate.
He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Melba Cate of Jay, his brother Ron Cate and his wife Phyllis of Jay, daughter Sherry Lynn Dunbar, daughter Angela Stall and husband Chad of Owasso, daughter Tina Lane and husband Joe of Eucha, and son Stephan Roger Cate and wife Kassie of Pittsburg, KS. Jimmy also leaves behind 8 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, October 17, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Graveside services will be Monday October 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Zena Cemetery.
