In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Nowata Historical Society or the 1033 Wheelchair Van. Joyce Helen Reid, 88, of Nowata passed away July 20, 2015 in Grapevine, Texas. She was born December 7, 1926 in Altus, OK to Paul M. and Margaret Geneva (Hendricks) Corbin. Joyce was a graduate from Altus High School. Joyce continued her education at the Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Oklahoma. On August 12, 1948 Joyce married Dr. John Robert Reid in Altus. In 1959 they moved to Nowata where they raised their four children. Dr. Reid passed away June 14, 1983. Joyce loved to play golf and was club champion several times. She enjoyed vacationing with the family especially snow skiing which brought many memories. She loved spending time at the lake with the family and would occasionally go for a ride with her husband on his motorcycle. Joyce also enjoyed gardening and grew beautiful flowers. Joyce was very active in the community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was active with the Loaves and Fishes ministry. She was also a member of the Nowata La Kee Kon Club, worked as a volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Drive, as well as working as a volunteer at the Nowata Historical Society Museum. Joyce loved her family. Her husband, children, and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She was a very special lady that will be missed by all who knew her. Joyce is survived by four children, Robert Reid and wife Lisa of Nowata, Dr. Rick Reid, DVM and wife Cheryl of Nowata, Margaret Mignone and her husband Joe of Colleyville TX., Rusty Reid and wife Colleen of Atlanta, GA. Joyce also is survived by nine grandchildren, Rachel Chapman, Ryan Reid, JC Reid, Paul Reid, Reid Petree, Max Miller, Robert Reid, Paige Reid, Ryan Reid; six great-grandchildren, Maddox Bullen, Spencer Bullen, Rhys Chapman, Kate Reid, Alex Reid, Nick Reid and many other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Margaret Corbin.
