June Stine

June 19, 1934 — February 15, 2009

June Stine, 74, retired school teacher and a resident of Bartlesville, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the Forrest Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. June Stine was born in Foreman, Arkansas, June 19, 1934, the daughter of Rueal Anin Cates and Rubye (Thomas) Cates. She graduated high school in 1952. She continued her education at Southwestern State University in Durant, Ok, graduating with a B.S. degree in elementary education in 1955. June married her college sweetheart, Jim Stine in Durant, Ok. on May 22, 1954. Mr. and Mrs. Stine moved to Bartlesville in 1957. June has been active as an elementary school teacher at Garfield, Wilson, Ranch Heights and Wayside schools. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Bartlesville. Through her passion for teaching, she touched the lives of hundreds of students, parents and other educators. Mrs. Stine is survived by her beloved Husband Jim, one daughter, Kay Sommers and her husband Lee, one son, Phil Stine and his wife Charlene, one grandson, Andrew Sommers, two granddaughters, Michelle and Christina Stine, dear friend, Jack Steeper and numerous extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Julie Ann Stine, parents, Rveal and Rubye Cates, three brothers, Ben Cates, Doyle Cates and Rveal Cates, Jr., dear friend Julie Steeper and Harry the hound puppy. Memorial services for Mrs. Stine will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark Carter of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Bartlesville, Ok. will preside over the services. Services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
