Karen Deatherage

Karen Sue Deatherage, 74 year old Grove resident, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019.  Karen was born on April 3, 1945 in Bethany, OK to Jack and Modean Deatherage.  Karen had a brilliant mind and loved to read and learn.  She enjoyed studying French, Math, and Law.  She taught English and Drama for a number of years and taught Freshman English at OU.  She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, and crocheting.
Survivors include her daughter Kathy Cooksey and husband Ronny of Albuquerque, NM, 8 grandchildren: Micah Cooksey, Hannah Burt, Josh Cooksey, Matt Cooksey, Bethany Cooksey, Andrew Cooksey, Grace Cooksey, and Reed Cooksey, 3 great grandchildren: Hudson Cooksey, Adelaide Cooksey, and Lilya Cooksey, as well as 5 siblings: Randy Deatherage, Cleta Mitchell, LaDon Deatherage, Kent Deatherage, and Scott Deatherage.
Memorial services will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Betty Ann Nursing Center.  She will be interred at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart, OK.  Arrangements are entrusted to Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com or on the Worley Luginbuel Facebook page.
