Katherine Harris

Katherine (Ponder) Harris Katherine (Ponder) Harris was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on November 5, 1924 to David and Annie M. Ponder. She was the second child of their seven children. She is preceded in death by two brothers, Alex Ponder and John Leroy Ponder, one daughter, Mae Francis (Johnson) Ishem, grandson, Vachel Johnson, and sister-in-law, Joann Ponder, wife of Richard Ponder. Katherine was educated at Douglass School. She was also educated in the teachings of God and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church where she served as Superintendent of the Sunday School, Chairman of the Stewardess Board and President of the Missionary Board. She lived by the word of God and was a loving and giving servant always willing to help all who needed her love and wisdom. Katherine departed this earth on June 8, 2007. She leaves to cherish and respect her memory, her children, Janet Louise (Johnson) Taylor of Wichita, KS, Everett Johnson of Bartlesville, OK, Barbara Robinson of Oklahoma City, OK, Thomas Robinson, Jr. of Oakland, CA, and Kathy (Robinson) Peebles of Peoria, AZ. , her siblings, Willie Claud Ponder and wife Lessie of Los Angeles, CA, Frederick Ponder and wife Zelda of Raleigh, NC, Betty Louise Hooks of Bartlesville, OK, Richard Ponder of Los Angeles, CA, Melvin Ponder and wife Mary of Bartlesville, OK, wife of John Leroy Ponder , Eunice of Los Angeles, CA, twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Expression of Gratitude We would like to thank you for your kindness, concern and support. We appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love and caring we have received on the behalf of Katherine. We ask for your continued prayers as the Lord she loves so much, begins His healing of our hearts and directs our lives in her honor.
