Kenneth Leroy Bloom, age 84, passed away on December 1, 2021. He was born on November 24, 1937, to Amos L. and Ruth Bloom in Coody’s Bluff, Oklahoma. He attended school in Nowata, playing basketball and football in high school, graduating in 1956. After high school he worked for Geological Survey Company and was later drafted and served two years in the Army. He later attended OU, then graduating from at the University of Birmingham in Alabama.
Kenneth was a long-time employee of Southern Natural Gas Co., living in Savanah, Georgia, Birmingham, Alabama and retiring from Stupp Corporation in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He married Bonita Marie Fuller on December 11, 1965. She died on January 12, 1999. After Bonita’s death, Kenneth moved to Monkey Island on Grand Lake. He later married Martha Sue Stephens (Suzy) on March 2, 2001. Suzy died on July 10, 2018. Ken was the ultimate caregiver for his wives, both of whom suffered long illness. Although Kenneth had no children of his own, he quickly took in all of Suzy’s family as his own.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Bonita and Suzy, sister in-law, Jeanie Bloom, and a sister Marjorie Leigh. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn and husband Walter Hopper, sister Loretta and husband Van Vives, brother Richard Bloom and wife Carol, and brother Ronald Bloom (Ron). Granddaughters, Jennifer and husband Dustin Spicer, Virginia and husband Adam Corcoran, Harmony Stephens, Hope Stephens, and great grandchildren Cooper and Ellery, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Rosary will be 10 a.m., Thursday, December 9, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with funeral mass following.
