Lee Othneil Baxter, 80, of Grove, Oklahoma went home to be with his Heavenly Father at 8:14 a.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. Lee was born September 20, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri to Joseph and Pearl (Patterson) Baxter. He graduated in 1946 from Republic Senior High in Republic, Missouri. He was a machinist for Litton Products, in Olathe, Kansas. After his retirement in 1992, he and his wife moved to Grove. He was a charter member of Elk River Baptist Church in Grove. He enjoyed computers, reading, and woodworking. He enjoyed making toys, chairs, rocking horses, cedar chests and many other items for his daughters and grandchildren. On July 17, 1948, he married Daisy B. Hight in Springfield, Missouri. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include, four daughters, Mary Lou, Connie Sue, Patty Colleen, and Tammy Marie; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his beloved Chihuahua "Minnie Mouse". Lee was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Elk River Baptist Church, Grove, Oklahoma with Mark Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Neosho Memorial Park, South Highway 71, Neosho, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson, Ferrell Malone, David Yandell, Jim Hollaway, Dakota Hollaway, and Tony Martin. Friends and family may leave on line condolences at www.honoringmemories.com. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma is in charge of arrangements.
