Loetta P. Landers, 71-year-old Nowata resident, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. Mrs. Landers was born December 8, 1937 in Weatherford, Oklahoma to Leo Hamburger and Bertha Marie Traudt-Hamburger. She grew up and attended schools in Weatherford. She furthered her education when she attended the nursing program at the Enid Baptist Hospital where she received her RN certification. On June 17, 1960, she married Phil Landers. The two settled in Nowata where Mrs. Landers centered her life between family and church. She was a devout member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in Mission activities and trips. She had ventured to places such as Central America and Africa as a missionary. Mrs. Landers was a member of the Baptist Association and strong supporter of the Birth Choice Organization. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and a member of La Kee Kon. Mrs. Landers also devoted countless hours with her work in the Release Time Organization and making visits to the nursing homes. She was also a passed recipient of the Citizen of the Year in Nowata. Mrs. Landers is survived by her husband, Phil Landers of the home; by three children, Lynise Means and her husband Stephen of New Waverly, Texas, Paul Landers and his wife Julie of Oologah, and Diane Delk and her husband Kevin of Nowata; by one brother, Don Hamburger and his wife Marge of Reedley, California; and by 11 grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Landers will be held at 2:00p.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Nowata. Casket Bearers will be Jesse Delk, Grayson Means, Drew Delk, Grant Means, Nate Landers, and Andrew Means. The family has requested that those who choose to make a memorial contribution in memory of Mrs. Landers, remember the Edna McMillan Mission Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 433 N Mississippi, Nowata, OK 74048.
