Mamie Florence “Flo” Cotten, 90, passed away on June 29, 2023, at Honey Creek Baptist Village in Grove, Oklahoma.
Flo was born in Fuquay Springs, North Carolina on May 11, 1933. She was the daughter of William David and Clara C (Chappell) Sherron. Flo was a very active person. She was very proud of being a Girl Scout Leader for her girls, had a passion for bowling and even taught bowling to many children in Oklahoma. She loved OU sports, had a prolific green thumb and loved her amazing flowers and plants.
But most of all she loved her family! She was proud of her southern heritage and was famous for her tomato gravy and biscuits!
Flo started life in North Carolina, the daughter of a tobacco farmer. Her life changed when she married and became a military wife. She and the kids spent many years in Europe, living in Greece and Spain and traveling throughout the continent. She landed in Oklahoma, which became her home and final resting place. Flo loved America and loved Jesus! She already submitted her 2024 Presidential Absentee Ballot for Trump! We will all miss her!
Flo was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters William Sherron Jr, Elizabeth Sherron, Donald Sherron, and Jonny Lee, and daughter, Teresa Gail Kirkland. She is survived by her daughter Linda Rothe and husband Matthew, her son Eugene Cotten and wife Sharon, and her sister Geraldine Sherron-Bradford of Wilmington, North Carolina. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Worly-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma with Pastor Sam Smith officiating.
