Margie Staten

Mrs. Margie Lausten Staten, 76, of Bartlesville died at 10:35 am November 10, 2006 at Jane Phillips Memorial Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, November 13, 2006 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Dale Scott officiating. Mrs. Staten will lie in state at the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Mrs. Staten was born on March 7, 1930 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Dorothy (Miles) and Clarence Edward Lausten. She attended grades 1 through 12 in Bartlesville followed by two years at Oklahoma State University. There she met her future husband, Hi W. Staten Jr. and they were married in Bartlesville on September 2, 1950. They made their home in Bartlesville in 1951 where Mr. Staten was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company. Mrs. Staten was active in every organization where her children were involved, including Home Room Mother, Cub Scout Den Mother, and for 20 years with the Phillips 66 Splash Club. She held many offices in the local, state and regional AAU swimming programs. She will be lovingly remembered for her extensive volunteer effort in the community. She co-chaired the "One Step at a Time" cancer support group. She chaired the Jane Phillips Hospital oncology volunteers. She had a long and active interest in her sorority, Pi Beta Phi alumni groups and served as Alumnae Province President for the state of Oklahoma. Her long service to the Bartlesville Symphony was recognized with the "Bev Gardner Above and Beyond" award. She served as Bartlesville Symphony Society Treasurer for many years as well as Membership Chairman for the Bartlesville Symphony. She is survived by her husband, Hi W. Staten Jr.; three sons Dr. Michael E. Staten and his wife Martha of Reston, Virginia, Dr. James R. Staten and his wife Elaine of Laurinburg, North Carolina and Dr. Robert A Staten and his wife Grace of Jacksonville, Florida where Dr. Staten is stationed in the U.S. Navy. Also three grandchildren Erin Fager, Christopher Staten and Ian Staten. Memorials have been established in her name with the Bartlesville Symphony Society, Box 317, Bartlesville Ok, 74005 and with the Bartlesville Pi Beta Phi Alumni Club % Mrs. Gary Hoover, 2919 Ridge Court, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
