Marie Blackmore

August 30, 1925 — October 9, 2010

Marie D. Blackmore, 85, a longtime Jay resident passed away at Monroe Manor on Saturday, October 9, 2010. She was born on August 30, 1925 in Jay, Oklahoma to Hubert and Nellie (Anderson) Dick. Mrs. Blackmore graduated high school in California. The family moved back to the Colcord area. She worked as a cook in restaurants and schools in Delaware County, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in the VFW in Bernice, the Red Hat Society and her family and close friends called her hot foot because she loved to travel. She traveled to most every state in the United States; a lot of those trips were made with her sister in law Margie Blackmore. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Nellie Dick, a brother Edward Dick and a sister Chloe King. Survivors include her sons J. D. Blackmore of Jay and Kim Patrick Blackmore of Grove, three brothers Joe, Everett and Jerry Dick, two Sisters Glenda Endicott and Ginger Weaks, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Mount Hermon Cemetery with Reverend John Pinkerton and Reverend Ken Silver officiating. Interment is under the direction of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove. Friends and family may send notes of encouragement at www.honoringmemories.com.
