Benjamin Funeral Service ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nowata, Oklahoma ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 918-273-2700 Marrietta "Rita" June Stierwalt awoke in Heaven in the arms of her Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She was welcomed home by her husband, Leonard Earl (Bud) Stierwalt, and her mother and step father, Elizabeth & Willie Hamil, who had gone before. Rita was born September 24, 1930 and was at the age 85 when she was released from her Earthly home. Marrietta attended school at the Palestine School in rural Nowata and Nowata Public School graduating in 1948. On September 25, 1948 she married Leonard Earl Stierwalt, and they made their home in Nowata. Rita worked at McClellan's candy counter early in her life. Then she became a wife, homemaker, and loving mother to their two daughters. Rita went back to work after their daughters were both in school and was a bookkeeper for 25+ years at Sooner Motors, Inc., retiring in September 1992. While working Rita also made many choir dresses and dresses for her daughters. She always made family first in her life, but took great pleasure in making things grow as was evident in her love of her flowers and vegetable gardens that surrounded her home since 1949. After retirement she found more time to read and could operate her Kindle which was kept loaded with books for her reading pleasure. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands; Mike & Shirley Lauderdale of Midland, TX and Carl & Debbie Campbell of Nowata. Two grandchildren and their spouses; Becky & Chance Parrett, Chris & Jennifer Campbell, all of Nowata. Four great grandchildren; Austin West, Gabby & Emilee Parrett, and Evelyn Campbell. As well as her brother; Robert Wynn & wife Ann of Bartlesville, step-brother: Billy Wayne Hamil & wife Jana of Grove, OK, step-sister: Vada McLaughlin of Borger, TX, sister in laws; Myrna Rodgers of Claremore, Muriel Pride of Tulsa, and Zella Mae Stierwalt of Euless, TX. In addition to numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. She is preceded in death by husband, Leonard Earl Stierwalt, parents; Willie & Elizabeth Hamil, twin brothers; Ronald & Donald Wynn, other relatives; Wesley & David Rodgers, John Kenneth & Mary Stierwalt, Harry Lee & Craig Stierwalt, Gertrude & Joe Norvell, Leslie Pride, Melba & LD Spires, and Sam McLaughlin. Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Home, Nowata, OK; Rev. Robert Crawford officiating.
