Mary Muriel Andrew, age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 27, 2019, at St. John Heath System in Nowata.
Mary was born on November 11, 1940, in Nowata, OK to Loyd Austin Andrew and Muriel Mae (Hoefer) Andrew. She grew up in Nowata and graduated with the Nowata Ironman class of 1958. For many years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Farris Oil and Keystone Pipe and Supply.
Mary followed in her mother’s footsteps, keeping the family tradition of being an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star, often holding officer positions within the groups. She was a longtime, devoted member within these organizations and was highly regarded. Mary was an exceptional woman and gave freely of her time within the organizations she was involved in, working on many worthy causes within the Nowata community. Upon getting to know Mary, people would notice her humorous personality and you were guaranteed a smile after interacting with her. Mary enjoyed taking the convertible out for a spin, and spending time with her family and friends, who she loved unconditionally.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Loyd and Muriel Andrew, brothers Clifford Donald Andrew, Loyd Dorsey Andrew, one niece, Keli.
Survivors include her son Billy Bowers Sr. and wife Jill, grandchildren; Billy Bowers Jr. and wife Stancie, Julie Bowers Kipps and husband Shawn, Jessica Bowers and significant other Daniel Wood, Zach Dry, Allison Dawson and significant other Brian Bible, Tammy Mann and husband Shane, , great grandchildren; Emma, Billy, Adriana, Sita Jo, Jordan and wife Tiphanie, Matthew, Kayleigh, Jax, Evan, Kash, Bryson, Dylan, Wyatt, great great-grandchildren; Asher, siblings; Anna Brewer, Albert and wife Coraline, and their children Lori, Jake, Jame, Amye and Sam.
Besides the above-mentioned children and grandchildren, she is survived by; Lisa Connely and husband Tom, Diana Gerdau, Barbie Bowers spouse and children, Johnny Bowers and children, she is also survived by close friends Shelia Guthrie, Ruth Davis, Carolynn Woodworth and husband, Clyde. Peggy Lewis, Isabelle Townsend, Dewaine Farris, Doug, Josey, and Earl, Rhonda Little, her 1958 classmates, VFW Auxiliary family, Eastern Star family, and any others that may have been missed.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. A memorial service for Mary Andrew will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel in Nowata, OK with David Ray and Wendell Abbott officiating.
