Mary Armstrong

January 14, 1934 — May 18, 2013

Mary Louise White Armstrong was born on a cold winter day January 14, 1934 and went home to Jesus on a beautiful sunny day May 18, 2013 at the age of 79. Mary was the fifth and last child of Nettie Mae Phillips White and Jasper Newt White. Mary's schooling was in the Yale, Norfolk area, then continued her education at Draughon college in Tulsa. July 15, 1955, Marry married her soul-mate, as she would say "her hero", Alvin Lee Armstrong. To this beautiful union was joined with three precious children; Sharon Lynn, Diana Louise and Larry Lee. Mary and Alvin went to California in 1959 where they made their home in El Segundo. After 20 years of service, Mary retired in 1984 from Continental Airlines. Mary was a servant for the Lord up into the end. Prayer Warrior she was. Mary wanted every one to know her Lord and Savior. Mary was a loving wife, mother and a very special Nani. Mary was the true word of friend to many. Survivors include husband, Alvin Armstrong of the home. Daughter Sharon and husband Billy Carroll of Claremore, Okla., daughter Diana and husband Brett Burdette of Rogers, Ark., and son Larry of Broken Arrow, Okla. Grandchildren: Leeanna and husband James Self, Mandy Parrish, Amanda and husband Mark Freas, Cortney Burdette, and Everett Burdette. Great grandchildren; Colten, Gunner, Cody and Huly Self, Kiya and Ashtin Parrish, Brittlynn Hartley. Shelby and Alivia Freas. Mary would want us to mention her many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Doil White and Raymond White, and two sisters; Delpha White and Irene White Johnson. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., May 23 at Mt. Hermon Church in Jay. Burial will follow at the Maysville, Ark. Cemetery.
